Timothy Phillips, Managing Partner at CIMA will be delivering a presentation as part of the Management Track of the 2012 ISSA South Florida Chapter Conference on March 9, 2011. The topic of Mr. Phillips' presentation will be Developing an Enterprise Information Security Strategy.

Presentation Overview:

In order for Security Departments to perform at an elevated level of value to an organization, it must think and operate strategically, even when taking tactical steps to address an issue. To do so, one must first prepare a long term (3 to 5 year) roadmap for the organization to follow, and execute on it. Designing and promulgating an enterprise security strategy is a critical first step in achieving this goal. With the many challenges, obstacles, and pitfalls that lay in its path, Information Security Officers must take due care in the approach and manner in which this task is performed to ensure success. One of the most common errors made by Information Security Officers in designing an enterprise security strategy is too heavy a focus on technology and architecture issues, neglecting other equally important areas. During this presentation you will learn two structured management models used for designing highly effective enterprise information security strategies,

(1) the Base Development Model, and

(2) the Progressive Development model.

You will learn many of the key design factors for integration, to ensure among other things, you are able to demonstrate continual progress and improvements in the program, a key to sustained leadership and Board support. During this presentation we will focus on the executive issues and considerations you need to focus on to develop a winning enterprise strategy.
